Current BAUN Council

The BAUN Council consists of a maximum of 11 members to include representation from England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales. The Executive Officers of the association are President, Secretary and Treasurer. The President's post is held for a period of three years and council members are elected for a period of three years. Council members may stand for a second term of office.

BAUN President

Lucinda works as Lead uro-oncology Nurse Specialist at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust with a countywide responsibility, she is also the incoming Chair of the NSSG in the 3 Counties Cancer Network. Lucinda's daily work focuses in urological cancer (both diagnostic and follow-up) and erectile dysfunction.  There is also a strong management component to the role. In 1998 she received the 'Urology Nurse of the Year Award' for her work in advancing practice relating to the role of Nurse Cystoscopist.  Lucinda has been involved with BAUN since the inaugural meeting hosted by BAUS at the Royal College of Surgeons in 1995 and has held the roles of Membership secretary, Treasurer, Exhibition organiser in the early days of the Association.  Lucinda was elected as President for a second term of Office by the members in 2010.

With 31 years’ practice as a nurse who has worked in a variety of Urology posts Hilary has experienced many of the changes and developments that have occurred in Urology during this time. Over the past 10 years Hilary has been part of the exciting developments in Urological cancer working as a Macmillan Uro-oncology CNS at Buckinghamshire Health Care Trust. She is an autonomous practitioner with her own nurse led-clinics. Her role is to improve the quality of care and health outcomes for patients diagnosed with a urological cancer, ensuring continuity of care and seamless pathway between the medical specialities. She is competent in discussing treatment options with patients, allowing them the opportunity to make informed decisions about their care and treatments.

Senior Urology Specialist Nurse, Basingstoke and North Hampshire Foundation Trust, Philippa’s specialist areas of practice include prostate cancer, transrectal ultrasound and biopsy, benign prostate disease and erectile dysfunction.

Pauline Bagnall
BAUN Council Member

Pauline is a uro-oncology nurse specialist, Hospital North Tyneside District General Hospital Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. North East of England. She provides psychological support for patients following a diagnosis of a urological cancer and carrys a caseload of patients, performs flexible cystoscopies and reviews patients following treatment of bladder, prostate and kidney cancer. Specialist interests include prostate cancer and developing standards for competence in advanced roles.

Urology Clinical Nurse Specialist, South Warwickshire General Hospitals, Warwick Hospital. Theresa is a Urology Clinical Nurse Specialist working at South Warwickshire Foundation Trust, Warwick. She has worked in Urology for twenty six years and undertakes a variety of nurse led clinics on a rotational basis with her colleagues. Clinics sessions include both cancer and benign; Nurse led stone clinic, LUTS, Urodynamics, Intravesical,  haematuria, prostate cancer follow-up, Flexible Cystoscopy both diagnostic and follow ups.

Uro-oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist, Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth, Hampshire. My main areas of responsibility include: Nurse lead flexible cystoscopy, Nurse lead haematuria clinic, TRUS and biopsies, MDT, Telephone prostate cancer follow up.

 

Fiona SextonFiona Sexton

Fiona has worked in urology since qualifying in 1992.  She has been in a specialist Nurse role since 1998 and a member of BAUN since 1995.  Fiona’s current role is as Advanced Practitioner in Urology in University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS trust. This role includes managing the urodynamics department and it’s nursing team but still retains a very clinically focused role providing services in TRUS biopsy, Flexible cystoscopy, urodynamics, general urology clinics and running the prostate cancer Active Surveillance service for the Trust.  Fiona completed her BSc Nursing with Specialist Practitioner Qualification in Urology in 2002 and MSc in Professional Practice/Cancer Care in 2011.

 Shirley has worked within the field of urology since the first Urologist was appointed to Craigavon Area Hospital in 1994. I trained originally as an Enrolled nurse but have now completed my ENCC, DipHE and BSc honours with specialist interest in Urology. She worked for a time as ward manager within Urology but in July 2009 was appointed Urology Services Coordinator within the Trust managing Nurse led day Clinic where she saw a wide variety of patients for TWOC, intravesical chemotherapy, change SPC and complicated urethral catheters and patients for daily Intravenous antibiotic regime for recurrent UTIs.

Bruce graduated from University Wales, Swansea in 2001. He has worked in urology since 2004 and currently works at Homerton University Hospital NHS foundation Trust and Whipps Cross University Hospital NHS Trust. He completed his MSc Nursing from City University in 2009 and non-medical prescribing in 2010. Bruce runs nurse led clinics in prostate biopsy, haematuria, bone health and prostate cancer follow-up.
