Orchid Study Day

Prostate Cancer: Britain’s Growing Problem

Join male cancer charity, Orchid, for the launch of their new report into the state of prostate cancer in the UK and the challenges facing the nation with an ever-growing prostate cancer population.

As our population continues to live longer into old age, the number of men suffering and living with prostate cancer continues to grow too. In fact, so much so that it is predicted to become the most common cancer in the UK by 2030, affecting three quarters of men aged over 75. If we are to be ready to deal with this number of prostate cancer patients and to deliver positive outcomes for these men, it is now the time to assess, plan and prepare for what lies ahead.

In their new report, Orchid draw together the expert knowledge and experience of a number of the UK’s leading experts working across the clinical spectrum in prostate cancer. The report sets out what Orchid believe are the main challenges for the future of prostate cancer care.

The report and workshop will cover:

  • Raising awareness: what needs to be done
  • Getting men to the GP: changing mind-sets and shared learning's
  • Delivering the emotional support men and their families need
  • Enabling patients to make informed decisions
  • Staffing our NHS for growing prostate cancer population
  • Community follow-up care
  • Prostate cancer and ever greater financial pressures
